Forget The Noise By APC, PDP; Here Is How To Solve Nigeria’s Problems – Agbakoba
Ex-President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and human rights activist, Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, has dismissed the strength of the opposition ahead of the forthcoming elections.
He said the stiff competition does not make this year’s elections different from previous ones as both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are driven by lust for power to amass wealth.
“I would have preferred a debate from both sides but what we hear are deafening noise that makes no sense.
All I can say is that the 2015 election psyche is the same as that of the 1999, 203, 2007 and 2011; nothing has changed,” he told Saturday Vanguard in an interview.
“There will be a winner and the loser will go to court and the same thing goes on and on. But I think the only way is to change the structure.”
Agbakoba said the change being talked about by the APC is not the kind of change Nigeria needs.
It is more than mere change of personnel, say, from Jonathan to Buhari. “When Europe was scattered after a bloody civil war, then they said, they were tired of fighting and talked about a new order and that occurred in Germany. That new order is what we need now.”
“A typical Nigerian is corrupt, he drives against traffic, he is noisy and greedy, he cuts corners etc.
We need to re-organise our nation, lest we would be a motley crowd of noise makers with huge resources and potentials that are not being utilised.
Nigeria is like a coach with top players but without a strategy.
Nigeria is a country of great talents but no strategy. Changing personnel for me is inconsequential. So, whoever wins should look at the weaknesses that we can all see to build a new Nigeria in the next four years.”
The former NBA president noted that the solution to the problems Nigeria has had already been recommended at the national conference — crack up Nigeria. “We can’t have one president; crack it up and create a regional government and let us see what will play out.
Then we can decide whether the regional structure will have its own new constitution, or whether it should be presidential and not parliamentary.
“The Inspector General of Police cannot over see the entire nation and the commissioner of police cannot override the authority of the governor on the grounds that his boss is the IGP in Abuja.
“As President of Nigeria, my key mission will be to discentralise power. With that, you can’t accuse me of not fixing the road in your local village.
Look at the state of roads and traffic in Apapa which is bringing in 50 percent of the revenue of the federation. In Abuja, they are too far to know what is happening here,” he said.
Agbakoba insisted on listening to the two front runners for Nigeria’s presidency talk about their plans for the country.
He said he would help the electorate to choose wisely. However, the presidential candidate of the APC Muhammadu Buhari has refused to participate in a debate.

APC chieftain, others defect to PDP in Bayelsa
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Publicity Secretary for Sagbama local government, Bayelsa State, Prince Vincent Dakoru along with his teeming supporters have defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former publicity secretary said he made the decision when he found out that the All Progressive Congress in the state has no ideology and discipline, especially in their conduct.
Speaking with newsmen in Yenagoa the Sagbama born politician reiterated that in life, it is always good to taste both sides, pointing out that there is no seriousness in the activities of APC in the state.
He wondered why till date, the party is yet to inaugurate its executives both in the local government and at the state levels.
His words, “The APC as a party is made up of characters with questionable behaviour. The change they claim to portray is full of falsehood, all they know is their stomach without the people they want to govern at their heart.
“The exco both at the state and local government levels have not been inaugurated up till now, so tell me how the exco can work, not to talk of sanitizing the system. Therefore, I and my supporters have decided to come back to PDP where there is transparency”.
Prince Dakoru therefore enjoined other APC members in the state to have a re-think and come back to the ruling PDP and support other Bayelsans in making sure that President Goodluck Jonathan is given a second term to pilot the affairs of the nation.

Facebook, which already offers 58 gender identity options, has now given users control over the words describing their gender. “Now, if you do not identify with the pre-populated list of gender identities, you are able to add your own,” the world’s largest social network said.
If you choose a custom gender, you can also choose the pronoun you prefer: he/his, she/her or they/their. As before, you can also control the audience with whom you would like to share your custom gender.
Google reverses its stance to disallow sexually explicit content on Blogger
Earlier this week Google announced that it won’t be allowing people to have sexually explicit content on its Blogger platform. Earlier such content would be marked as ‘Adult’ so as to provide a warning to viewers before the content was presented to them but then Google thought even that wasn’t enough.
However, it seems the company has received a fair amount of backlash on the decision, following which it has promptly reversed its stance on it. A team member said on the Blogger Help Forum:
We’ve had a ton of feedback, in particular about the introduction of a retroactive change (some people have had accounts for 10+ years), but also about the negative impact on individuals who post sexually explicit content to express their identities. So rather than implement this change, we’ve decided to step up enforcement around our existing policy prohibiting commercial porn.
As before, blog owners will have to mark any sexually explicit content as Adult’ but other than that there is not much difference for regular users.

Two other members of the group had their bicycles stolen.

A few days of s*x and seeming love end in bitterness and you’re in the love market again.
This is why, even when the relationship seems perfect, there are some things you must never do for that person — at least not until you’re wedded or there’s a binding document in place.
Love is about giving in and giving up a few things, but…
1. Don’t change your personality. Now, they say you should change for the one you love. Yes, that is true. But when the changing comes from you alone and it seems like you’re being re-manufactured, then something is wrong. No man or woman should attempt to change you entirely, unless you really have bad habits. Aside this, in the event that you’re separated, the hurt will be worsened by the fact you won’t recognise yourself. You’ll be nothing without that person. A person who loves you must accept the real you.
2. Don’t abandon your dreams: This is another one you should be careful about. Two people in love ca exist without killing each other’s dreams. It is a good thing for both of you to alter your careers and dreams to accommodate each other. But there is a limit. A true lover would aid your dream, ask you to abandon it. Work out a middle way. If you lose your dream for a relationship that is not yet solid, marriage especially, sorry will be your consolation when it ends.
3. Don’t abandon your friends and family.Hmmm, it really is sad that some people let love kill their relationships with kith and kin that they had before meeting their lover. They do not realise that friends are the only thing you can fall back to when you hit life’s road bumps. If a lover makes it a case to break your link to friends and family, please exit. They should find a way to accommodate your friends. If you lose your friends to that relationship, what happens if it ends?
4. Don’t set up businesses or share details of official information. Many people think it is love to expose their entire business plans and financial information to a supposed lover. But this is dangerous. A lot of people ‘love’ just to deceive and maybe swindle. If they have access to sensitive official details, like ATM card pins, internet bank passwords, property document details, etc, you are exposed to danger!
5. Don’t become a donor agency. Lovers should help each other, morally and financially. However, don’t be saddled to a leech, a tick who only feeds off you. You’re not a bank account or donor agency to anyone. As you give, make sure it’s reasonable, and for genuine needs. A lover who always returns for more is a gold-digger, a fraud that you don’t need. Small money gifts are cool, but should not become the norm and basis of love.
6. Don’t give unofficial loans, bad personal investments. Loans are relationship killers. If a lover wants huge sums of money from you, be wise and make it legal. At worst, make sure the money is deposited to his/her bank account, to leave a trail that can be used to retrieve it in case you guys fight. To withdraw N200,000 and give to your lover in cash as a loan is not wise. Instead, transfer via bank and write ‘loan’. If the money is big a signed IOU might be necessary. Also avoid foolish investments like setting up businesses or funding projects without legal documents. This may look rigid, but many people have killed ex-lovers because they could not retrieve their ‘investments’.
7. Don’t give unfettered access to private emails and social media accounts. In these modern times, social media accounts are very sensitive. It should be as personal as possible. Making it a public affair for a transient lover is bad, bad and bad. Imagine the damage they could do if you break up? He or she could for example lock you out of your own account or even send out compromising messages through your account.
8. Don’t reveal compromising information or damaging materials. When we fall in love, there is the temptation to talk too much, way too much than we need to. There should a lot of discussion between people in a relationship. But some things should never be said to some people who are not yet fully committed to a relationship. Sharing intimate secrets will put you up for future attacks. Ex-lovers are fond of sharing demeaning information, like nu.des or private talks.
Love doesn’t hold back, it is spontaneous, it is forgiving and every other good thing.
But it pays to be cautious, especially when there is no formal commitment from so-called lover.
To be in love is to love with wisdom and caution…

The spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign organization, Femi Fani-Kayode has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of trying to force a dying man into office to achieve ulterior motives.
Femi Fani-Kayode has said that the leaders of the APC know that its Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari has “prostate cancer, acute asthma and that he suffers from dementia” and as such wouldn’t last long in office if elected.
The PDP spokesperson stated that the major plan of the APC leadership is for Vice-Presidential candidate, Yemi Osinbajo to hand over to party leader, Bola Tinubu after Buhari’s likely demise.
Fani-Kayode stated this during a press conference on Friday, February 27.
“Since the formation of the APC it has been an open secret that Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu is its national leader and also its biggest financier. The question that should agitate every Nigerian is why Tinubu has been investing heavily in the APC presidential project to such a point that he has single-handed produced the joint presidential ticket of Buhari and Osinbajo,” Fani-Kayode said.
“It should baffle well-meaning Nigerians why Senator Tinubu has decided to draft Buhari, despite his age, acrimonious background and questionable health status, into the presidential race whilst ensuring that his stooge, Osinbajo was foisted on the general as vice presidential candidate. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation wishes to use this forum to expose the ungodly plan by Senator Tinubu to seize the presidency of Nigeria by subterfuge,” he added.
“Senator Tinubu, according to our information, has compelled Professor Osinbajo to swear to an oath that after six months in office, he would resign as the vice president, in the unlikely event that their party wins.The wicked plot, as laid out by them, is to force Professor Osinbajo to resign for Senator Tinubu to be nominated by General Buhari as his replacement. The ultimate objective of this plot is to ensure that Tinubu becomes President,” Fani Kayode continued.
Fani-Kayode accused Tinubu of basing his evil scheme on Buhari’s ‘questionable health.’
“The script is simple: given the questionable health of General Buhari, Senator Tinubu who is desperate to be president for his own selfisfh reasons will simply bid his time in the evil expectation that General Buhari will not be able to go the whole hog,” Fani-Kayode said.
“Becoming the vice president is not the destination but becoming the president! The agenda of the cabal within the APC is with the perceived health challenges of General Buhari. They have told themselves in hushed tones that he has prostate cancer, acute asthma and that he suffers from dementia. All structures around Buhari are all Tinubu’s structures. All the actors around Buhari that are driving his campaign behind the scenes are all Tinubu’s men,” the PDP spokesperson continued.
“Most of the covert funding for this campaign comes from Tinubu’s friend outside the country and from Tinubu himself. So, if he becomes President, Buhari will become virtually incapacitated and he will not be the one running the government. Those behind this plan would now be waiting for Buhari to pass on. That is what Tinubu want to do to the North and to Nigeria,”Fani-Kayode said
“Our candid advice to General Buhari is: Watch your back,” he concluded.
Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti has also repeatedly accused the APC of covering up Buhari’s true health status.
LASU Refunds N209million School Fees To Students
The Lagos state government has refunded N209m to students of the Lagos state University following the reversal of school fees by Lagos State University, LASU.
At a ceremony held at the Main auditorium of the Ojo campus of the school yesterday February 26th, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Fatai Olukoga who represented Gov. Fashola, said this was the first phase in the refund exercise. He said the second phase of refund which is about N89 million will take place soon.
12 students were presented with cheques ranging from N150,000 to N200,000 while the remaining money will be paid to the accounts provided by the other students.
The management of the school and the students had witnessed many months of protest following a hike in school fees until Governor Fashola intervened in September 2014 and ordered that the school fees be reversed.
