Female AAU Student Crushed to Death in Edo State (Disturbing Photo)

A female student of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma in Edo State, was crushed to death yesterday by a tipper lorry.

The unfortunate incident happened on the Uhumudumun Road in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area.

Sympathisers gathered on the scene to catch a glimpse of the body and learn more about her death.

There was a gridlock, following the accident, for hours.

An eyewitness said a commercial motorcycle (Okada) carrying the woman attempted to overtake another Okada.

They were said to have collided.

The woman reportedly fell off the motorcycle and was crushed to death by the tipper.

Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) at the Iruekpen Division, who were on ground to ease traffic, took her body to a nearby mortuar

This is an exclusive report by ZimEye (online Zimbabwean blog) on Boko Haram’s planned reprisal attack on South Africa for the senseless killings of innocent Nigerians.

The dreaded Boko Haram insurgents has been spotted in Zimbabwe in transit to South Africa, according to reports by UK-based news outlet ZimEye, citing Zimbabwe’s national intelligence agency.

According to the Zimbabwean news website, the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) issued an intelligence report, warning that the Islamist militant group is in Zimbabwe en route to neighbouring South Africa.

ZimEye added that the South African intelligence service has alerted police officers in Zimbabwe’s Matebeleland region about Boko Haram’s intentions to infiltrate South Africa.

Other Zimbabwean media outlets have picked up the
story. One outlet, Harare24, claims, “Officers were
yesterday called for duty at around 9pm and are now
temporarily stationed at selected police stations where they camp.”

iHarare reports that police spokespersons have not
responded to a request for clarification on the original ZimEye report, and official statements from the government of Zimbabwe regarding Boko Haram’s
potential presence in Zimbabwe do not appear to exist.

The Matebeleland region borders South Africa, where the jihadist group may seek to “carry out revenge attacks for the ill-treatment of several Nigerian nationals in the ongoing xenophobic attacks” that have left seven people dead and displaced thousands more from their homes, notes the news website.

Boko Haram released propaganda this month
threatening to kill South Africans in retribution for the wave of xenophobic violence affecting Nigerians and others in that nation, though it was believed that Boko Haram members would find and kill South Africans in the areas where they operate: Northeast Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon.

Boko Haram reportedly released a video nearly two
weeks ago urging South Africa to end the xenophobic
attacks taking place within its borders.

Zimbabwe’s online news outlet iHarare reports that in the video, which has not yet been verified as authentic, Boko Haram warned that it would execute all South Africans in Nigeria, Chad, Niger, and other surrounding countries if the government of South Africa failed to contain the situation.

Boko Haram militants are the number one cause of mass murder in the country presently, there is no way they can use Xenophobia to justify planned attack on South Africa.

Haruna feels the only female APC candidate was rigged out and denied victory, and as such, he must undertake the mother of all protests.

Court dismisses two eligibility suits against Buhari

Plaintiffs in two of the three pending suits challenging the eligibility of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to contest in the March 28, 2015, presidential election have withdrawn the suits.

Consequently, Justice Adeniyi Ademola, who is presiding over the matters at the Federal High Court in Abuja, subsequently struck out the two cases after the plaintiffs had indicated their intention to withdraw the suits on Wednesday.

Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) who represented the plaintiff, Chukwunweike Okafor, in the suit FHC/ABJ/CS/01/15, told the judge on Wednesday that his client decided to withdraw his suit to enable the incoming Buhari-led government to focus on the task of governance.

Ozekhome said he suggested the idea of withdrawing the suit to his client on the telephone on Tuesday night since he (Okafor) could not be seen to be weeping more than the bereaved as the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan, who lost to Buhari in the March 28 presidential poll, had conceded defeat.

He said, “We have filed a notice of discontinuance. I called the plaintiff last night and asked him to discontinue the matter. I don’t think he should weep more than the bereaved since the sitting President called to congratulate the General (Buhari) on his victory.

Counsel for other parties in the suit, Chief Akin Olujinmi (SAN) and Mr. Hassan Liman (SAN), representing Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission respectively, did not oppose the application for discontinuance.

Justice Ademola consequently struck out the case.

The same scenario played out when the second case, FHC/ABJ/CS/14/15, filed by Max Ozoaka was called.

Ozoaka’s lawyer, Dr. Chike Amobi, also said he had, on behalf of his client, filed a notice of discontinuance of the suit on the same grounds as that of Ozekhome.

The defendants’ lawyers did not also oppose the application and the judge also struck out the case.

The judge and the defence lawyers commended the plaintiffs’ counsel for their action which they said was in the spirit of best practices at the Bar.

With the Wednesday’s development, the remaining pending eligibility suit against Buhari is the one filed by Ayakeme Whiskey (FHC/ABJ/CS/68/15).

As of the time of filing this report, no date had been fixed for the hearing in the pending suit.

Earlier, before Wednesday, Justice Ademola had struck three of such cases on the grounds of lack of diligent prosecutions.

One of the cases was filed separately by Ayakeme Whiskey (FHC/ABJ/CS/68/15), which is a duplication of an earlier one filed by him. The two others suits, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/20/15 and FHC/ABJ/CS/3/2015, were filed by Friday Ojelaro.
